Music for young birds without parents E-mail

LONDON (Reuters) - The British RSPCA animal welfare organization has started giving music lessons to young blackbirds, starlings and other birds that have lost their parents. The organization plays in its shelters CDs with bird, so the birds learn to sing properly.

The reason for the project is a recent study of birds in captivity. The study showed that most birds would benefit from being in their presence as CDs with bird play. 'It helps the birds to be good singers, so they can better survive if they are released,''said RSPCA employee Tim Thomas in the Monday edition of the British newspaper The Times. Thomas said that for a singing bird is essential in defining and defending a territory and finding a partner.
