Six killed in attack in northeast India E-mail
(Novum / AP) - An attack on a busy market in the northeastern Indian state of Assam has Sunday six deaths. Forty people were injured, of whom about twenty in life danger, said the police.
The attack took place in the city Kumari Kata in western Assam, near the border with Bhutan. The explosives were attached to a bicycle. The suspicion is on the United Liberation Front of asome (Ulfa), one of several separatist movements in the region. The separatists say that the mineral resources in the region operated by the central government, while doing nothing for the indigenous population. The indigenous population of Assam is more related to ethnic Chinese and Burmese than Indians. The Ulfa has for some thirty years fighting for more autonomy or independence.
