MIN SZW: Two students sometimes rsi-like symptoms E-mail
Fifteen percent of mbo'ers, hbo'ers and academics has klachten.Ongeveer RSI-like 70 percent of the students who MBO, HBO or university education has ever RSI-like complaints. The vast majority (55 percent) say a little to have complaints. The remaining 15 percent has many complaints. Private use of the computer is also cause of the complaints. This is a study by the Radboud University Nijmegen. Minister De Geus of Social Affairs and Employment has the results to the Lower House.

The study is conducted to a picture of RSI-like symptoms (such as pain in arms, neck and shoulder) and overload psychosocial (eg stress caused by work overload, or too high expectations) to pupils and students. There are interviews with experts and surveys completed by directors, teachers and ICT coordinators in primary and secondary education, participants in secondary education and students in higher vocational and university education.

On MBO's, HBO and universities are RSI-like symptoms the most. These students bring daily by nearly 4.5 hours behind the computer 1.5 hours before the study and three hours to chat, surf the internet and playing games. At the end of the study, students must perform many tasks and write their thesis, the complaints again. Although the symptoms occur in all disciplines, there are some outliers, such as industrial design directions and information technology.

At primary and secondary education, students have little rsi-like symptoms. They spend fewer hours in front of a screen than mbo'ers, hbo'ers and academics. A pupil at the school spends a daily average of 1 hour and 40 minutes behind the computer (at school and home). In secondary education, two hours and three quarters.

Over 50 percent of HBO students and scholars indicates pressure experienced by the hard work for the study. The MBO is what lower (39 percent). Approximately 33 percent of the participants and students will find pressure due to high demands and expectations that they be made. In primary education, 15 percent of the students are suffering and in secondary education 18 percent. Psychosocial complaints are caused by high demands and expectations outside the school to put them.

Minister De Geus expects the results to play a role in the awareness of educational institutions. Educational institutions are responsible for the safety and health of pupils and students. "It is to prevent RSI and psychosocial overload a process that demands an effort of parents, pupils and students through its borders to be observed, a good seat and work to adopt and computer equipment that breaks, on a good to use. This is true not only for the time they spend at the institution, but also at home, according to De Geus.
